Self-compassion
A letter to me
Dear Hazel,
I know you set yourself a goal of writing a blog a month in 2021, and I know how committed you are to sharing what you have learnt about resilience with the world, but I need you to stop for a minute.
Remember that you teach about resilience being about flexible strength, about the ability to step back and make a choice that is most aligned to your values (I’m thinking this might be a good time highlight your value of compassion).
Remember also that your mind likes to do that ‘do what I say not what I do’ thing too, don’t let it trick you into thinking you have no value unless you are being of value to others.
So, let’s close the laptop and accept that you are tired and that juggling home schooling and running a busines is challenging. Look, it’s snowing outside, why don’t you go for a walk across the fields and lose yourself in the beauty of the scene and that crunchy sound you love as you tread through the icy flakes. You can write a blog another day…or week…or month.
You never know, your act of self-compassion might inspire someone else to do the same.
Lots of love,
You
